Chair of the Local Advisory Committee (LAC) – Statement

The roles and responsibilities of Chaselea Alternative Provision LAC committee are very similar to those of school governing bodies and they continue to develop as the educational scene changes. Our most important function is to ensure that our students receive provision of the highest order which supports their return to mainstream school or to further training in preparation for a fulfilling future career.

In order to achieve this the LAC both supports and challenges the Headteacher, Leadership Team and staff through our role as ‘critical friend’ of Chaselea Alternative Provision Academy.
Chaselea Alternative Provision Academy continues to move from strength to strength, overcoming challenges both internal and external in order to continue to provide the best education for our students. The whole Chaselea Alternative Provision Academy team – LAC Committee, Leadership Team and Staff – are entirely focused and committed to supporting our students to help them move toward a positive and rewarding future.

The LAC Committee is proud to represent the Chaselea Alternative Provision Academy parents and students and endeavours to support the continuing development of the best educational practice available. Several of the LAC Committee members either are, or have recently been, headteachers in their own right and so are well versed in the best educational provision and all of the Committee members share the view that only the best is good enough for each individual student in our care.

The LAC Committee always values observations from parents about ways to improve and may be contacted via the Chaselea Alternative Provision Academy administration office if any parents have observations or contributions to make.

On the 18th January 2023, Manor Hall Academy Trust approved the federation of the Local Advisory Committees of both Chaselea Alternative Provision Academy, Cannock and Bailey Street Alternative Provision Academy, Stafford, which will provide a stronger team of governance.

Adrian Williams is currently the Chair of the federated LAC and may be contacted via email at: office@chaselea.mhat.org.uk

Who is Adrian, our Chair?

My name is Adrian Williams, and I have been a teacher for 16 years.
I am passionate about education and students from disadvantaged backgrounds having the best opportunities in life. I firmly believe this comes from accessing the best education possible.

Growing up in Dublin in the 1980s was an extremely difficult beginning but I was fortunate to have the opportunity to go to a school where students were nurtured and encouraged to thrive, despite their individual challenges. Having experienced this shaped my desire to make change and being a teacher and a governor gives me the best opportunity to do this.

I recognise that not every young person can access a mainstream provision and there are many alternative routes to success and these places need to be supported and demonstrate that everyone has a place in a caring and supportive community.

Personally I love sport and, in my opinion, support the greatest football team in the world.
I am proud to be Chair of Governors for both Bailey Street and Chaselea and I will provide both challenge and support to the Headteachers and their leadership teams to ensure that all the young people receive the best education and experience as possible.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments using the email address above.
