At Chaselea Alternative Provision Academy, Religious Education (RE) is an important part of our Humanities curriculum because it helps pupils make sense of the world around them and understand the diverse society they live in.
RE gives young people the opportunity to explore different beliefs, values, and cultures, encouraging respect, empathy, and thoughtful discussion.
Studying RE supports pupils in developing key life skills that prepare them for adulthood. Through examining real-world issues, ethical questions, and different viewpoints, pupils learn to think critically, communicate their ideas clearly, and make informed decisions. RE also helps them reflect on their own values and understand the beliefs of others—important skills for building positive relationships at home, in the workplace, and within their communities.
As part of our commitment to offering meaningful qualifications, pupils also have the opportunity to work towards and achieve GCSE Religious Studies. This not only recognises their hard work but also strengthens their future educational and career pathways.
Our aim is to equip pupils with the confidence, understanding, and social awareness they need to navigate adult life and contribute positively to the world around them.
Parents have the legal right to withdraw their child, wholly or in part, from Religious Education. Any parent wishing to exercise this right should contact the school office in writing (e.g. email) to discuss the request and any appropriate alternative arrangements.
