The Local Advisory Board (LAB) is made up of volunteers who hold the Headteacher and his management team to account in their running of CAPA. This is much the same way as that of a governing body of a mainstream school.

The LAB meet five/six times per year to look at the strategic operation of CAPA and challenge the staff to ensure that the pupils are receiving the best possible education, to ensure the pupils are safe, and to ensure that CAPA meets its statutory requirements.  Details of these meetings are then passed to the CEO of the Trust and also the Trust’s Board of Directors.

During the school year, LAB members will also visit CAPA to meet with staff and look at various areas of the school.   Also, specific aspects of the school life will have a LAB member assigned to them; referred to as a link governor:

  • Safeguarding – Chris Hilton
  • SEN – Hayley Tonks
  • Pupil Premium, careers – TBC

These LAB members will visit the school, meeting with staff responsible for those areas, and pay extra attention to the running and organisation of that area before reporting their findings to the LAB.
